Neutral Triangles

I remember one day in  Novemeber 2015 (and it was toward the end of November), I got the brilliant idea that I wanted to make quilts for all my kids and husband for Christmas.  That is 5 quilts!!  Not one of them were started at that point.  I don't know what I was thinking... or maybe I wasn't.  But I started going for it. Oh and plus it had to be a surprise which meant not working on them when the recipient was around.  I did get most of them done except there was one for my daughter that I only had the top done to wrap up for Christmas.  This one for my son Rocky, I was stitching down the binding at midnight on Christmas Eve!

Started: November 2015
Finished: December 25, 2015
Size: Twin size
Fabric:  Scrappy all grays with white background
Pattern:  Half square triangles

Baby Pink Lemonade

This is the mini version of the Pink Lemonade Quilt.  It was made from the scraps of the king size quilt for a baby.  I hand quilted it using colorful threads that co-ordinate with the pinks, oranges & yellows in the fabrics. I am really happy with how it turned out.  I need to make this idea again with different fabrics!

Start:  Jan 2015
Finish:  March 2015
Size:  Baby Size
Fabrics:  Scraps of Orange, Yellow and Pink
Pattern: Half Square Triangles
Quilting:  Hand quilting with colored crochet cotton

A Large Glass of Pink Lemonade

I love collecting pink and orange fat quarters. In fact I can't stop buying them everywhere I go. Eventually I decided to make something out of them and the blocks just kept multiplying and multiplying. I ended up with a huge quilt, and a baby quilt and tons left over. And guess what? I am still buying more pink and orange!

Start: 2014
Finish: 2015
Size: King Size
Pattern: Hour Glass
Fabric:  All the pinks and oranges
Quilting: Free-motion Meandering Daisy

Charity quilts 2015

A  few friends and I were donated a whole box of scraps of baby flannel prints. Having already past the baby phase with our own kids and not yet reached the baby phase with grandkids, we decided to make them into quilts to donate.  We found a group of women in our city who were already doing just that and joined them to create a big load of baby quilts to donate to the local Ronald McDonald House and Inn from the Cold, a program helping homeless children and their families.  Here a just a few of the over 50 quilts that were created to donate.

Started: January 2015
Donated: March 2016
Size: Baby or crib size usually 35-40" x 35-60"
Quilting: Variety
Fabric: Variety of donated flannel

Sophie's Swirl Quilt

Sophie's Swirl Quilt is made with fabric from my favorite designers, Bonnie and Camille and uses their line called "Hello Darling".  The quilt features a very simple design with half-square triangles and white background. I quilted it with Cinnamon bun swirl quilting, and a plain white backing.  I love the fresh crispness of this mostly white quilt contrasting with it's sunny colours and strawberry prints.
For this queen sized quilt, I used a fat eighths bundle and still had some decent sized scraps left for another future quilt.

Finished: December 2015

On the Road

This is a sweet little boy quilt that I called "On the Road" because the fabric is Road Trip by Riley Blake, and also because of the applique cars and trucks and camper that are on it.  But also because I did all the hand embroidery while our family was in the car for 28 hours on a road trip to take my son to University last summer!  Super fun stuff. I really love doing hand work in the car and I am always thankful that it doesn't give me motion sickness!

Hexagon Blocks and Birds

I made this fun little playmat for babies that was started so long ago but finally was finished!  It is just that I kinda like starting things and sometimes I get so many started at the same time, that it takes a while to see the finish!  Hand embroidered applique hexagons and birds makes a high contract and visually interesting quilt for babies to look at and snuggle in.  Raw edge appliqued for softly fraying rustic look. This one is for sale in the shop.

FINISHED: April 2016
